Will Ferrell And Jack Black Lined Up For Tag Brothers
Watch Oblivion Online "That's my chopper you just thrashed, Broseph!" Following up on a brief but memorable scene on screen together in Anchorman, Jack Black and Will Ferrell will be reuniting more prominently in New Line Cinema's Tag Brothers. The two funny men will play two of the four planned starring roles for the picture, which is based on a real-life ongoing game of tag between a group of former classmates who are now adults but have yet to outgrow their beloved game.
Watch Evil Dead Online The Wrap posted the news, stating that Tag Brothers is being written by Mark Steilen. The story is based on a piece the Wall Street Journal featured about a group of men, now in their 40s, who spend the month of February playing an intense game of tag while also trying to juggle their adult responsibilities. From the sound of it, these guys pull out all the stops when it comes to playing this game, even going as far as to break into each others' homes and offices to secure the necessary "tag" which releases them from being "it."
Watch Spring Breakers Online Ferrell and Black's involvement in the project is contingent on the screenplay. They're set up as two of the four planned male leads, with the other two roles yet to be filled. The story certainly has potential for some great comedy. Though we haven't seen much of Ferrell and Black on screen together, there's no denying their chemistry during the unfortunate bridge incident involving Baxter in Anchorman. Let's just hope Ferrell doesn't give Black cause to drop kick his dog in this new film. Tag can get intense.
Watch Scary Movie 5 Online These days, Black's been keeping busy with his band Tenacious D, which has tour dates lined up starting next month in Los Angeles. He's also listed to return to the voice of Po for the third Kung Fu Panda film, which is planned for late 2015. Meanwhile, Ferrell has an uncredited role in The Internship coming up, not to mention the upcoming Anchorman sequel. We'll also hear his voice as President Business in The Lego Movie. With the two actors tentatively set for Tag Brothers, we're left to wonder who might fill the other two roles? Is it too obvious to suggest one of the Wilson brothers or Vince Vaughn? I'm also thinking Ben Stiller, Justin Long and/or Alan Tudyk, but in doing so I realize I'm just recasting Dodgeball. Grownups playing "kid" games does yield good comedy, doesn't it?
Watch G I Joe Retaliation Online Michael Bay fans are about to have a very busy couple of weeks. As most of them already know, the action-guru’s latest picture, Pain & Gain, will be making its way to theaters on April 26. In hopes of psyching Bay fans up for that event, the Alamo Drafthouse plans to honor the director’s career with a Lifetime Achievement Award and an induction into the newly-created Tough Guy Hall of Fame. The entire event, coined “Baymageddon,” even has its own trailer, which we’re sharing above via a Vimeo link. The Bay events, according to a release, will be held on Sunday, April 21, at Alamo Drafthouse locations in Austin and Houston, TX, Kansas City, MO, and Littleton, CO. Three “classic” Bay films will be screened, followed by an early screening of Pain & Gain, giving the director’s top fans the first chance to see the movie that won’t be in theaters for another week.
Watch Breaking Dawn Part 2 Online On piecing together the event, Alamo programmer Greg MacLennan said: "When I first started programming the Tough Guy Cinema series for the Alamo Drafthouse, I wanted to take repertory film screenings to a new level, and the first films I could think of were modern masterpieces of mayhem from Michael Bay. I wasn't taught them in school, you don't see any books on them, but his films deserve to be recognized and revisited on the big screen. Blockbusters may come and go, but his films stand the test of time. He's made heroes out of everyday actors, and somehow, along the way, he became one himself."
Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League adds: When I first heard the idea of "Baymageddon," I knew it needed to be more than just a marathon. It needed to be as big as a Michael Bay film itself, which is why I'm very happy to be inducting Michael Bay as the very first member of the Alamo Drafthouse Tough Guy Hall of Fame. It takes a truly tough guy to make such beautiful mayhem." Hard to argue. Now, it’s a bit of a roll of the dice. You might buckle in for three straight Bay movie and get Pearl Harbor or Transformers: Dark of the Moon. If it were up to me, I’d dial up the first Bad Boys, The Rock and Armageddon for the perfect appetizer before Pain. If you had to program three Bay films, which would you pair for a perfect Baymageddon? Part of me can’t believe that Burstyn’s actually old enough to possibly play Costner’s mom, but at 80, it’s not as much of a stretch as I initially assumed. And adding a talent like Burstyn to any film is going to make the material that much better. The Oscar winner hasn’t been on screen in a major motion picture since playing Barbara Bush in Oliver Stone’s W., so this is a welcome surprise. Costner, meanwhile, continues to line up his string of higher-profile gigs after sitting it out for a short amount of time. Obviously he’s playing Pa Kent in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel. He’s also going to mentor Chris Pine in the new Jack Ryan movie. But I’m most excited to seem him return to the field of sports dramas, where he frequently excels.
